When ‘I’ itself is an illusion what is the use of saying ‘I AM THAT’ without knowing what is real in actuality.+

When ‘I’ itself is an illusion what is the use of saying ‘I AM THAT’ without knowing what is real in actuality. All the ‘I-centric Gurus and their teaching will block your realization of the ‘Self’ hidden by the ‘I’.
Unless you realize the 'I' is an illusion Self-realization is an impossibility.
If you are serious in your quest for truth you have to discard all the ‘I-centric’ Gurus and their teaching. By emotionally getting involved with the ‘I-centric’ Gurus and their teaching you are blocking your realization of the ‘Self’ hidden by the ‘I’.
Simply saying ‘I AM’ that or ‘I AM this is to the genderless Soul is not wisdom. Without knowing what this ‘I’ supposed to be in actuality not wisdom but ignorance.
First, know what his ‘I’ supposed to be. The ‘I’ is an object to the Soul, which is the formless, timeless and spaceless subject. The ‘I’ is the whole universe, which appears and disappears. Without the ‘I’ the universe ceases to exist.
Perfect understanding of ‘what is what leads to unfolding the mystery of the ‘I’. sticking to the ‘I-centric’ gurus and their teaching keeps you in the cage of ignorance.
The ‘Self, the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness is not limited to you because it pervades in everything and everywhere in the world in which you exist.
You are not God. The Soul the innermost ‘Self’ is God. It is not correct to say God or I am Brahman. But when Brahman is, how can "I" remain? Only Brahman or God remains, not the I.
From the standpoint of the Soul, the innermost Self, the ‘I’ is an illusion, which appears and disappears.
It is erroneous to use the word ‘I’ for the Self, because ‘I’ represents the form, time and space whereas the Soul, the innermost Self is formless, timeless and spaceless existence.

Remember: the ‘I’ is the dualistic illusion.
That is why Bhagavad Gita: ~ ‘The permanent (consciousness) is always there, only the transient ‘I’ comes and goes. (2.18)

The ‘I’ hides the Soul, the Self.

Bhagvad Gita: ~ You must first see the ‘I’ as illusory before you see others as illusory. ~ CH.2 v.16

First, you must make sure the ‘I’ itself is illusory because the ‘I’ is not permanent.
Sage  Sankara says: ~The exercise in discrimination between real and unreal and renunciation of the false is real meditation, then why you are indulging in other types of meditation.
Perfect understanding and realization of ‘what is what’ leads to Self-awareness. By holding on to theories one remains in the realm of duality. You have to mentally go on dropping what is not the truth through deeper Self-search.
Finally when you become aware of the fact that, your ego, your body, and the world are one in essence then there is Self-awareness in the midst of dualistic illusion. : ~Santthosh Kumaar
