By controlling the senses does not yield Advaitic wisdom.+

Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:~  The Self  (Soul or Spirit) is indeed Brahman (God in truth ), but through ignorance, people identify it with intellect, mind, senses, passions, and the elements of earth, water, air, space, and fire. This is why the Self is said to consist of this and that and appears to be everything.

Ashtavakra Gita: ~ “The fool tries to control the mind with the mind - what folly! The wise one delights in the Self alone. There is no mind to master.

Manduka Upanishads Control presupposes second, a duality. Hence, yoga is in the sphere of duality and is unnecessary to one who knows non-duality. (P.153).

Manduka Upanishad:~ Those that want ultimate truth Brahman will not practice control of the mind. (p.231)

Controlling the senses does not yield nondualistic or Advaitic wisdom. The practice of Ashtanga-yoga is not the means to acquire Self-knowledge. The seeker has to have humility, patience, sharpness to grasp, the ability to discriminate between the Real and the non-real, and an intense desire for liberation
You and your senses and your experience of the world are made of the same stuff. That stuff is the Soul which is present in the form of the spirit. From the standpoint of the Soul or the spirit, you and your senses and your experience of the world are nothing but the spirit. Thus, the Spirit alone is real and you and your senses and your experience of the world are merely an illusion.
The universe is the product of ignorance. The five senses (body) have nothing to do with the Soul, the Self because the Soul the  Self is ever nondual. From this standpoint, the Soul the  Self the universe in which the body (you) exist is merely an illusion.
The dream universe and the five senses (dream body) become unreal when the waking takes place. Similarly, the waking experience in which you and the waking world exist becomes unreal when wisdom dawns. The wisdom dawns when the Soul remains in its own awareness in the midst of the duality.

Remember:~
If the ‘‘Self’’ is not the body then why talk of the five senses that are concerned with the body.

Why talk of the yogic chakras which are concerned with the body.

Why talk of karma which is concerned with the body.

Why talk about the religion, which is conferenced to the body.

Why talk of religious Gods, which are concerned with the body.

The Soul is the cause of the world in which you exist and it, itself is uncaused.

The consciousness is not limited to the physical body but the consciousness pervades the world in which the body exists.

Some Gurus claim that the ‘Self’ is within the heart but the ‘Self’ is not within the physical body but the world in which you exist is within the Soul, the Self’.

People are searching for the ultimate truth in all the wrong places. They think the religious Gurus and yogis will help them to get ‘Self’-realization.

People are seeking the truth within the universe, which is a dualistic illusion through various rituals, temple worship, pilgrimaging forests and mountaintops, and monasteries without realizing the fact that they are searching for the truth within the dualistic illusion with the illusory identity. The world in which we exist is the dualistic illusion or Maya.

Without realizing the world in which they exist is an illusion, it is difficult to realize the truth beyond form, time, and space.

What you are seeking is hidden by the dualistic illusion. The ultimate truth or Brahman dwells within the three states like fragrance in the flower; Musk lies within the Musk-deer yet seeks it afar."

Until one traces the truth within the three states the illusion of birth, life, death, and the world is experienced as a reality.

Deeper self-search reveals the fact that the Self is not the ‘I’ but the ‘Self’’ is the ‘I- LESS Soul, which witnesses the coming and going, of the ‘I’.

Until one gets a firm conviction that, only the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness, is real and the world, in which he exists, is an illusion created out of consciousness, it is difficult to realize the truth beyond the form, time, and space.

Remember:~   Some Gurus say the Self is not the body but they speak of five senses which belong to the body.

The body belongs to you because you are bound by birth, life, and death whereas the Soul is birthless and deathless. After all, the Soul,  the Self is a formless, timeless spaceless existence.

You,   your body, and the world in which you exist are created out of single clay and that clay is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

The Self is not you- means the ‘Self’ is not the body.  If the self is not the body then what is the use of controlling the sense organs.

It is necessary to realize the ‘Self’ is not you but the Self is the Soul, which is present in the form of consciousness.

The Soul has no organs because the Soul is a formless, timeless, and spaceless existence.  Some gurus propagate by control of the senses leads to Self-realization.

By controlling the senses the ignorance will not vanish. Without getting rid of the ignorance of the world in which you exist prevails as reality. : ~ Santthosh Kumaar
